This is a show all about gender, our minds, and all sorts of transitions. And also today it's about a movie too. Welcome to Two Headed Girl. normally on this show you and i talk about our queer experiences and you know our relationship and feelings and all that boring crap hey babe yeah i don't see it moving
Mattiei don't know yeah oh okay sorry i didn't know if it was recording because i didn't see it moving
AlexOh, yeah, no, you won't see it. Yeah. Normally on this show, you and I talk about our relationship, queerness, and a bunch of other boring stuff. But today, we really wanted to talk about the new Christmas movie.
MattieHappiest Season.
AlexYeah. Oh, Happiest Season.
MattieWe call it Happy Holidays because that's much funnier. Would have been a much better title.
AlexWell, I actually, no, it wouldn't have been. It took me a long time to put together happiest season is gayest season because gay is happy.
MattieLike, yeah. I think they just mean Christmas.
AlexI don't know. I don't think so.
MattieOff the top, this is a pro this movie podcast. So if you did not like this movie, step away now.
AlexNo, no. If you didn't like this movie, stay here.
MattieLet us change your opinion.
AlexYeah. Or at least explain why we like it.
MattieYeah. It's not without its flaws, for sure. But we both really like it. I think it's safe to say.
AlexAs I think we've talked about before, Christmas is my favorite holiday. and I love cheesy, predictable, often problematic Christmas movies. And this one is notable because it's basically pitched as a lesbian rom-com and not many of those exist or at least none exist in like the Christmas movie genre.
MattieI would argue that none exist in a like blockbuster made for theaters movie because this was supposed to be like a mainstream released in theaters movie before the pandemic. There are lots of indie artsy whatever lesbian films, but none quite like this.
AlexNotably, blue is the warmest color, which...
MattieBlack. Black.
Alexuh we'll put in show notes one of my favorite videos which is real lesbians react to blues the warmest color sex scenes oh my god it was directed by a straight man um of course it was oh but this movie is not directed or written by straight men it's written and directed by claire duvall who is known for i think her name's claire duvall not
claire clea oh i'm so i'm miss duvall if you are listening i apologize thank you for your lesbian service but clea duvall i think is best known for but i'm a cheerleader and as the bodyguard in veep yeah veep yeah uh and it's actually co-written by uh oh my goodness i always forget her name um the actress holland who plays jane the middle sister and and actually she met ms
deval uh on the set of veep and they became buddies i thought you were gonna say gay buddies No.
MattieThey're not, unfortunately.
AlexNo, no. I believe she is straight.
MattieOh, womp womp.
AlexYeah. So, happiest season. Sort of the elevator pitch slash elevator summary is that there are two adorable women. One named Abby, played by Kristen Stewart. The other, Harper, played by Mackenzie Davis, who is the adorable...
MattieLesbian in San Junipero.
AlexHeck yeah. And they have been a couple for over a year now, but Abby's never met Harper's parents. So Harper is like, hey, come home with me for Christmas. And of course, as they are driving to her parents' house, she reveals to Abby, oh, by the way, when I said that I had come out to my parents and they were cool with it, that was a lie. I didn't do that.
Mattiethen a lot of typical rom-com shenanigans happen with misunderstandings and them almost getting caught uh fooling around a whole bunch of stuff and all of the typical rom-com stuff but with you
Alexknow a little gay twist yeah i actually have a list of like stereotypes for of stereotypes of holiday movies but with like a gay little twist and kind of important scenes we should talk about but I want to warn people now this is chock full of spoilers however it is a Christmas movie so even if we spoil things everything turns out a-okay even if we spoil things I don't think
that spoils the actual experience of the movie.
MattieI agree. I also think everyone should watch this movie no matter what they read online about it because it's good. It's good.
AlexI still haven't read anything about it online except for a tweet by our friend Margaret who liked it.
MattieI read a Variety article about it that we will link in show notes because it is my favorite non-biased opinion like overview of it that's not like me me me me yeah there's a lot of me about this
Alexjust as there is whenever a movie featuring gay characters goes into the mainstream and as you as you said this was supposed to be a theatrical release i believe but then hulu snagged it when all of the theaters shut down because of COVID. And this was sort of billed as like the first gay Christmas movie. And I think the problem with that is this is not like a queer Christmas movie.
this is just a basic ass well while being very good uh but but a basic christmas movie that you would see on hallmark and it just i mean it's better than that yes but i mean some of them are good it's it's like a top tier christmas rom-com that just happens to feature two women as love interests like it's not anything with a queer ideology or anything like that and we could
debate you know for hours what what a queer film is obviously but i think a lot of the i don't think there's vitriol but you implied to me that people were kind of mad that it wasn't gay enough which to that I say what does that mean that's not true people
Mattieare mad because of the quote-unquote toxic relationship between Abby and Harper and the main lesbian couple and I want to argue that yes Harper does some toxic things and bad things but
Alexthe relationship altogether is healthy wait a second wait a second are you telling me i'm i'm being totally serious right now people are mad that the couple has some issues and then resolves them yeah that what the um film like a romantic okay yeah that's that's the that's the whole problematic discourse i mean the whole movie is about you know um harper has not come out
to her parents and that is i guess the character's call to action because every romantic comedy has a situation that is keeping the two people apart and in this case it happens to be that harper's parents are it's like they're not conservative but they're like straight straight up democrats i'm sorry straight up democrats they're really waspy you know like they're
in fact i believe it's literally pennsylvania because they're uh abby and harper live in Pittsburgh so uh Virginia oh really okay yeah so yeah it's like the prototypical waspy family like this movie even though it has black characters is super white it's so white it's like it's it's incredibly like that this is I don't think anybody would be like yeah this is
a black film. No, it's they have a diverse cast, but it's a really white movie. Yeah, that would
Mattiebe one of the big things on the problematic list is that it's super white. Oh, for sure. Which is
Alexwhy many Christmas films have that, you know, problematic situation because they're all very white and based around wasp families because that is the demographic that this film is meant for for good or bad for bad I mean let's be real but again it is not a queer movie I think it's just
Mattiea movie that has queer characters in it I agree it's something that we need more of I wish this would have existed when I was a youth and I think uh despite the negative discourse a lot of people that have positive opinions of the movie also wish something like this existed in the mainstream and we just need more of them and they need to be more diverse obviously but it's just as if how heterosexual couples were shoved down our throats in all sorts of movies this is you know basically
exactly like one of those movies but with gay representation which is great and the fact that abby and harper aren't the only gay people in the movie because dan levy who plays abby's friend john
Alexis also gay in this movie oh dan levy who you may know as david from schitt's creek
Mattieand oh i i adore him his character is i would argue the best in this movie
AlexDo we want to do a quick rundown of the characters?
MattieYes, definitely.
AlexSo there is Kristen Stewart as Abby, Harper's girlfriend. Harper, as we mentioned, is played by Mackenzie Davis. Alison Brie is Sloan, one of Harper's sisters.
MattieThe oldest sister.
AlexAnd then Jane is played by Mary Holland, the co-writer, who is a super, she's a total weirdo. And I love it. I actually, if it weren't for the fact that the two main characters were gay, I would relate to Jane the most. Because she's just this big old nerd and the family is just like, hey, we just, just fix the Wi-Fi. Like she's.
MattieIt you.
AlexYeah. uh victor garber aka the i'm sorry i will never remember his real name victor garber the captain of the titanic is is uh harper's dad mary stein steinbergen is is tipper harper's mom And I didn't know this before, but Tipper is apparently like a super waspy name, which, okay.
Yeah, Dan Levy as John. And that's kind of the only important characters. Except we have Aubrey Plaza as Riley, Harper's first and ex-girlfriend. Do you want to talk about Aubrey Plaza? Oh, gosh, this is going to be so hard. Should we refer to them by the actor's name or the character? Let's try to refer to them by their character names.
MattieYeah, since we already started doing that, I think that's a good idea.
AlexOh, okay. Can we first address the relationship between not Harper Plaza, Riley and Harper? Or rather, can we address the what some people are, I guess, are perceiving as the love triangle between Riley, Harper and Abby, which I don't think exists.
MattieYeah, well, everyone's mad because they wanted Abby to end up with Riley. And I think we both the vibes we got from them are that they are good. There's like a solid gay friendship. It's like a good alliance of, hey, both of us have been kind of ignored by Harper. Let's commiserate over this and just like have some fun and share our experiences. And I got your back.
AlexI truly didn't get any like gay romantic vibes from them.
MattieI will definitely gave us.
AlexYeah, I was like, that was worded poorly. But one of my favorite things about this movie are the friendships that exist in this little universe. because one of I mean one of the tropes of Christmas movies is the advice of the friends you know or the like jealousy or fear of another like will they won't they couple but this one I don't know I didn't get a will they won't they with Riley and Abby and I just got a
like we are gay and bummed out because Harper isn't out to her family and also the friendship between Abby and John um is absolutely beautiful because again there is that gay commiseration that you don't get in mainstream films even when there are gay characters because you know like there's always the the sassy gay friend but so rarely is the sassy gay friend a friend to another
Mattiegay character you know also so rarely are they a character of depth like yes Dan Levy has some of the best sorry uh John has some of the best uh like little monologues in this movie and you know usually the gay best friend would just be like yes girl go get him yes queen and don't worry
Alexhe does have plenty of those lines like yeah it's great but if i can um i hopefully right now you will hear john's monologue towards the end when he's talking to abby about harper coming out to
Speaker Aher parents harper not coming out to her parents has nothing to do with you how could it not Remind me, what did your parents say when you told them you were gay?
Speaker CThat they loved and supported me.
Speaker AThat's amazing. My dad kicked me out of the house and didn't talk to me for 13 years after I told him. Everybody's story is different.
There's your version, and my version, and everything in between. But the one thing that all of those stories have in common is that moment.
Right before you say those words, when your heart is racing, and you don't know what's coming next. That moment's really terrifying.
And then once you say those words, you can't unsay them. A chapter has ended, and a new one's begun, and you have to be ready for that. Can't do it for anyone else.
Just because Harper isn't ready, it doesn't mean she never will be. And it doesn't mean she doesn't love you.
AlexSo even as the mature queers that we are, I found that so, so beautiful. And I think it's advice we often forget when we're older and we look at our peers who are closeted or even just, I mean, both of us have internalized queer phobia. but it was just a really nice reminder and it made me cry a lot of discourse that i've seen
Mattieargues about that that monologue that john gives abby yeah and i think it's so dumb because i i agree with you i think that so few of us remember like it's 2020 you should just come out and get rid of your toxic family members but i relate to this so much like i didn't come out to my parents until I was nine months on T and it's because I didn't want to lose them and I a hundred percent understand where John is coming from and everyone's coming out story
is different and it takes time and just because it's 2020 doesn't mean that it it's that easy it doesn't mean you can just like come out and throw your family aside not everyone wants to do that and I think everyone being like she should just be herself hasn't been in that situation
Alexthis is a movie with many tropes both you know uh good and bad like sure it's a coming out story and most mainstream movies with gay characters are coming out stories but you know what most Christmas movies are about the magic of Christmas and oh uh most romantic comedies are about two people who shouldn't be together in the first place and like I I don't know I don't think
those tropes that I've just mentioned are necessarily problematic because I hate that word I'm gonna stop aren't necessarily bad things because every day there are people who are coming out of all ages you know like just because the internet is filled with loud gays doesn't mean there there aren't like a million people watching this movie with their kids who are in the closet
or maybe like kids who are out and are trying to explain to their parents what being gay is or there are a bunch of kids who are still in the closet and maybe their parents don't care but there's just totally across the spectrum and i don't i don't know like they're tropes for a reason
Mattiethey're tropes for a reason and we get to see them through a gay a gay relationship in like I think a very grown-up way like it's just handled so well for a quote-unquote cheesy holiday movie like it's not they really handle like the deep issue of how everyone comes out differently and I've been Harper so I guess I understand I relate to that with my you know
Alexcoming out as trans and I actually am surprised to hear you say that because immediately when we started watching this movie it was very clear I really at least I thought wait no I didn't think you you said you were looking at Abby and you're like oh I'm Abby oh you're Harper because Harper loves Christmas and just wants to make her parents happy and uh you are a lot like Abby who is kind of
iffy on Christmas because oh her uh parents died around uh Christmas time by the way my parents
Mattiedidn't die around Christmas though they are both alive just uh just uh yeah yeah it's uh which is
Alexanother another christmas movie trope and disney trope she's also a pet sitter i was like it me yeah yeah and i you know and the whole thing based around oh you're gonna meet my parents over the holidays again a christmas movie trope that just happens to blend with the coming out
Mattietrope i want to tell you how i think i related to harper or how i had that opinion more after the third watch of this movie i've seen this movie four times and i've seen it three times um this scene where they pull over in the car and harper reveals that she has not come out to her parents to abby is definitely something i've done keeping a big secret from you and then telling you at the last minute yeah is it the best thing to do no is it definitely problematic and toxic
I don't think it's toxic I think it's problematic and I think well those two things can go together
AlexI'm sorry to interrupt you that's also hashtag problematic
MattieI just think so many people are are shitting on Harper at that moment and I think it's totally understandable should she have told Abby sooner yeah she should have but it's so very true that's a moment that is very true to life when you are scared and anxious of something and you don't want to hurt your person someone you love like completely you do that kind of thing uh hold it to the last minute because you don't want to hurt them and then realize I have to tell
them and it is very realistic to a relationship especially one that's in the early stages of the relationship they've only been together for a year so it's dawning on me that some people might
Alexnot like this movie just because the relationships are kind of realistic like this isn't a christmas prince uh a movie that's on netflix which i also adore but i would say isn't quite as emotionally impactful or i i i don't know um but i you know the reason i related to harper so much is i i didn't come out I well technically I've never come out to my parents they just they just kept
asking questions and figured it out pretty much yeah like well and and I I am often still jealous of people like Harper who can pass this as straight like Mackenzie Davis can look super straight i especially know what it feels like to have to hide your significant other around the holidays like when i was gonna oh all right uh so the first holiday season you and i were
together uh let's just say there were some marks on my neck that weren't appropriate for a conservative family dinner. But it wasn't that it wasn't that the hickeys were there. It was that my mom totally knew that those hickeys did not come from a boy. And she did not know who they were from, but knew they were from somebody that I was seeing. I was literally there with you
Mattieon Thanksgiving when you had those hickeys and you introduced me as your girlfriend.
AlexThe, yep, it was.
MattieSo your mom knew they were from me and that was not a very good first impression, yet somehow she still loves me.
AlexYes. Well, it was like, yeah, it was before dinner and I, God, I remember this so clearly. I was like setting, I was like setting the table or cleaning the silverware. Like we were doing just like one of the whitest things ever.
And but that that evening after the family parties and stuff, you you came over and yeah, and it was fine. And you were in your Starbucks uniform and it went much better than it does in this movie. which the big climactic scene in which harper finally comes out to her parents is actually a fight between her three sisters um who have always fought for their parents love which is why harper
doesn't want to come out to her parents so another reason i did not want to come out to my parents because you know i had a path uh which didn't veer in the way that they expected but uh that's the thing this movie gay characters but not a gay movie it's a movie about family just like most christmas movies are even if the core relationship is technically a romantic one they're mostly about family and this one is about your you know the family you are born with and the family that you
Mattiechoose yay chosen family yeah but you are right i totally agree how i see you relating to harper more because of the coming out and because of the way that her family is structured and myself as abby just out and proud and just not giving a fuck yeah oh wow abby
Alexit's never ever ever okay to out somebody but when Kristen Stewart came out as gay we were all like yes and that's how that's how Abby's character dresses in this movie in fact Harper asks Abby to pretend that she's straight so she's just bringing her home for the holidays as her roommate who does not have a family of her own one of my favorite lines from this movie is when
Mattiejohn says to abby on the phone have they seen a lesbian before because she says that she has to pretend to be straight and all of her outfits that she brought with are literally like suits with ties and just the queerest like outfits ever and again it is set in the current year so i think actually 2019 and yeah have they never seen a lesbian before is 100 accurate yes and i mean
Alexthere there are just so many uh like so many stereotypical gay i mean there's well there's no gay flags until the credit sequence but there's some there's like gags involving literal closets and it's it's just very
Mattiecharming Abby why are you in the closet yeah like this this movie has
Alexlike those tropes but also they feel a little bit like the the stakes I think feel a little bit more real because you know a will they won't they story doesn't typically involve a will they or won't they be ostracized from their family which is a thing that you know harper is facing um again spoilers it everything turns out a okay in the end but i i don't know i'm still just trying to
wrap my head around where this movie lives in terms of genres and why people don't like it for
MattieI don't know people don't like it because they wanted Abby to end up with Riley which I think they just don't like Harper and I I gather it's because they don't understand that relationships can be complicated and people can have flaws without the whole relationship being toxic like harper is a bitch in this movie let's let's be clear she is a bitch yeah she lies during the scene where the three sisters are fighting and sloan the oldest sister
outs harper to her parents in front of the whole giant christmas party with all the waspy friends she lies to her parents face and abby's face and abby's face and at that moment i'm not a lesbian abby gives up for the second time she had already tried to break up with her and then tries to do it again and in that scene definitely the biggest bitch like as i re-watch this movie
and watch it through i'm like wait harper's not that bad and then i get to that scene and i'm like oh yeah she's she's that bad because she lied twice that she wasn't in a relationship with abby and that was the moment that she needed to come clean to redeem herself personally like i wish that she would have come clean in that moment to redeem herself and not waited because then later when she does tell her parents once the party has cleared out um she's like i did it i did it to Abby and Abby's like no it's too late and I I probably if I didn't see so much of us
in them I would have agreed with Kristen Stewart especially if she didn't have that coming out
Alexa little talk with John so yeah the reason unfortunately that it resonates with me so much is because I've had, I have seen and done all of those things that Harper has, like, I mean, I don't think I've ever denied being with you to my parents' face, but, you know, gotten pretty close.
MattieYou've denied being gay to your parents' face.
AlexYes. And and at the cost of relationships, I have not had many serious relationships for this reason, because I well, I'm a bitch and don't like disappointing my parents. and I got a happy ending and hey yeah and the oh no no well no no
well do you need to leave that in yes yes I I mean I think one of the most realistic things about this is that Abby and Harper almost break up like three times but and the reconciliation ends up actually being after Abby has left the big Christmas party that is the where the climactic scene happens um and we didn't mention uh that of course John her best friend has come to pick her
up so that she can leave this terrible terrible waspy place where the dad is running for mayor for some reason and uh they they leave and abby and john leave and they're at a gas station but then harper shows up and to you know confess her love and all that which well that would be the christmas stereotype trope uh but it's also where she says i do not care
what they think i care what you think because you abby are my family and the this is where i like lose my shit and use up half of a box of kleenex because i'm crying so hard i just want to go home
Speaker BI know. I just... Please, let me say this. You are my family. I mean, you are the love of my life. I was terrible, and I wish that I could undo everything, but I promise you I will make it up to you. I will spend the rest of my life making it up to you, and I won't hurt you like this again. But please, give me another chance.
I want to build a life with you. Please. What about your parents? I... no, no, I... I don't care what they think. I only care about you. If I have you, that's all I need.
Be with me.
MattieAnd a lot of people say that Abby shouldn't have taken Harper back. And I argue that you have not been in a long-term relationship with true love. And I also argue that you haven't had the ups and downs and stress of crazy family at holidays that you don't want to disappoint. And there are moments in relationships that are problematic. And they don't and people can be toxic, but it doesn't mean the whole relationship is toxic and that you 100% need to end your relationship right there because the person makes bad mistakes like that.
Their relationship is about like they're literally going through growing pains and like growing up and evolving through their problems together. Harper comes clean and in the parking lot and like tells Abby like you are my chosen family now like this is it. And then John is is in the background and he's like, do it, do it.
AlexAnd by do it, I think he means kiss or take her. I don't know. Take her back. It's just so cute.
MattieWe forgot to mention that Abby was going to propose to Harper.
AlexOh, gosh, yes. At the beginning of the movie, another trope we see is, you know, one of the main characters and the main character's best friend going to pick up the engagement ring. so Abby and John go to this jewelry store and this is another one of those tropes that has a little bit of a gay twist because you can tell like the I don't know it's it's that thing where you walk into a store and you're immediately clocked as gay and it's like I can't even explain
it. I just like the looks that are exchanged. And it's not it's not like played for laughs. It's just played as like, oh, yeah, this is the thing that happens sometimes when you go in stores like for better or worse, like there's not really any commentary on it. It's just that moment where you walk into a place that is usually occupied by cis straight people and you are not one of them.
MattieAs John says, have you asked a grown man permission to own his daughter yet?
Alexoh goodness i i don't really have anything else to say except you know like it's just it's it resonated with me so much like the the gay bar that abby and riley go to is totally like it it reminds me so much of uh the the like town i grew up in because there's you know that
one bar that isn't technically a gay bar but it's you know it's a drag bar so it's it's a safe space and the other bar that abby ends up with with harper is like the sports bar that's super awkward
Mattieand i yeah because we've never had dates at sports bars that are super awkward yeah exactly
AlexExactly. It's literally named Fratties in the movie. I just loved that. It was delightful.
MattieThere's so many queer stereotypes that happen and our relationship stereotypes that happen. The and I don't know. I think this is a gay dramedy. I don't even think it's a Christmas
Alexmovie like there are lots of christmas disagree oh really yes this is almost all christmas movies you could remove it but i i don't know like no you are wrong you are hard this you are wrong wrong wrong this is a absolutely a christmas movie if only because the beginning and and involve Christmas, which is also why Rent, the motion picture, and Broadway show are Christmas movies.
MattieAll right. I agree with you, I guess. I guess you're right.
AlexThank you. Thank you.
MattieAre there any favorite moments of yours that we didn't touch on? I think all of my favorite things are 100% basically everything that Dan Levy's character says.
Alexfor sure i i do like that we get to see dan levy portraying a character uh sure a lot like his character in in schitt's creek but with a bit more not not a bit more depth uh a bit he he's more rooted in reality i i think like um i don't i don't know i just really enjoyed him he technically has a smaller part in the movie but he has a huge part in abby's life
which it rings really true to me to have like the the gay man and the gay woman best friend trope is is real like there's a reason you see it in movies so often i feel like he's definitely part of her chosen family oh for sure especially because at the end of the movie it has flashed forward one year and john is i mean you'll have to watch the movie for this but john ends up being
jane the weird sister's book agent um but but also like john becomes a part of the extended waspy family i actually don't know what i know i said her last name um harper nope i did not write
Mattieharper's last name i have no idea what it is clear water or something like that clay yeah wow that's amazing hold on i'm gonna look it up harper her name might as well be
Alexharper the straight hot white lady who's secretly gay that's like the case yeah oh goodness gracious harper tipper
Speaker Bjane i'm sorry
Alexalso you know we've got the another stereotype which is the um uh ex-boyfriend so harper's ex-boyfriend his name is connor this is the straight white people i'm sorry i'm please know that if you are someone who has these names i am laughing with you because i i am a basic ass straight white bitch and let's be real
Mattieall of our names are real dumb did you just say you're a basic ass straight white bitch you are
Alexa basic queer white bitch yeah well a basic ass queer white bitch wait did i say i was straight yeah you did say you were straight well see maybe that's another freudian slip because i think secretly harper well until the end harper wishes she was straight she wishes that she was straight But she loves Abby. And Abby says at one point, wow, at one point, Abby says, I guess Harper just didn't love me as much as I thought she did, which is another line that rings so, so true.
MattieWhy does that ring true for you?
AlexOh, not for me specifically, necessarily, but just the nature of authentic relationships where there is always an uneven exchange. Like that exchange can go back and forth, but it's very rare that a relationship is completely equal. Like the power dynamics shift and change. And if you have a completely static relationship, good for you. But I mean, I would be shocked to find out if anybody had a completely like binary partnership in terms of, I mean, in terms of everything, financial, emotional, I don't know.
MattieRelationships are not always 50-50. Sometimes they're 20-80 or 30-70. It just depends.
AlexAnd if they're always, like, you know, if you're always, it's like subs and doms. You know, there's, no, it's not. I don't know. Like, this is not a gay thing or a straight thing. this this isn't even a romantic relationship thing like this is any sort of relationship it's give and take people sure harper is a shitty shitty girlfriend for large parts of this movie
but guess what that's what conflict resolution is about preach well now that i've um you know gotten off of my soapbox do you have any final thoughts i my one final thought is that i just
Mattiewish people would see the movie for what it is instead of hating it so much i like i understand you have a bunch of expectations i feel like going into a movie where it's like lesbians main characters but you got to realize we need all of these movies we need more of them because the market is so saturated with movies like this with straight couples that this may not be the perfect gay holiday movie but there are so many elements of it that are important and meaningful and I feel like you could sit down with your family
and use this as a way to help you come out or use it as a way to help your family understand your gay brother or sister or whatever and that despite the fact that there is problems ultimately it is a positive movie to be put out there into the world.
AlexMuch like Dear Simon, which is a movie I abhor but I'm glad it exists. Now that we've done an episode just gushing over a basic-ass movie, we should do one about a basic-ass movie I hate. Thank you so much for watching this movie with me multiple times. It was like a delight of my Christmas season, especially because right now we don't get to be with our families.
So it was just a nice reminder also that I no longer have to be in situations like Harper's.
MattieThis movie shadowed so many parts of our relationship and it just made me really grateful that I have you in my life and that we both get to be out and live in our lives and that your parents are so much better than Harper's.
AlexAnd that the Christmas spirit has been restored.
